Changes During Natural Pregnancy and Birth
- The period of natural pregnancy and birth is divided into trimesters. Usually, the first trimester lasts for around 0 to 12 weeks. The second trimester happens from week 13 to 26 weeks. On the other hand, the last trimester begins on week 27 until around the 40th week. The full term of a fetus is normally obtained at around 38 to 42 weeks of natural pregnancy and birth
- There are small changes that may be noted by the pregnant woman and everyone who is around her during the early stages of natural pregnancy and birth. This is because during this period, the fertilized ovum has just been implanted in the uterus. Specifically, this occurs around seven to ten days after fertilization. As a result, various hormonal and systemic changes take place. One of this is the increase in breast size at the onset of natural pregnancy and birth. This is directly due to the hormonal changes that occur in the woman’s body. Specifically, the reproductive hormones are causing the physical changes during natural pregnancy and birth.
- Aside from the physical changes that may occur in the first trimester, the pregnant woman may also undergo some emotional changes. During this period of natural pregnancy and birth, the pregnant woman may seem to be highly irritable and impatient. There may also be instances that she would prefer to be isolated socially. These emotional changes are transient and will wear off as the natural pregnancy and birth period progresses.
- Another usual manifestation that is noticeable with pregnant women is the fact that most of them suffer from nausea and frequent vomitting. They may also appear to be very fatigued during natural pregnancy and birth. Aside from that, they manifest with frequent urination that may be attributed to increase in pressure caused by the growing uterus.
- Despite this fact, there is little increase in weight during the early phase. On average, a pregnant woman can have 0 to three pounds of weight gain on the first trimester of natural pregnancy and birth. As the months pass by, weight gain is evident to provide adequate nutrition for the child. Because of this weight gain, other people may notice the physical changes that occur on the pregnant woman. Another factor that may be attributed to the significant weight gain is the fact that the fetus continues to grow inside the womb of the mother. During the second trimester of natural pregnancy and birth, the fetus measures approximately 19 to 23 centimeters long and weighs around 600 grams. During the final phase of natural pregnancy and birth, this increases to around 39 centimeters and 3400 grams.
- From the first phase of natural pregnancy and birth, the fetus has already started to perform some contractions and movement of its various parts. However, the mother may just begin to feel some of its movements during the second trimester of natural pregnancy and birth. This occurs from week 20 onwards. During the third trimester, the mother may also feel significant contractions from the uterus. These contractions may be simultaneous to the movements that the fetus makes.
- Aside from these physiological and psychological changes, there are also interesting changes that the fetus has to undergo during the entire natural pregnancy and birth process. During week 12, the fetus already has a beating heart. Around week 13 of natural pregnancy and birth, the fetus already starts to develop fingernails, eyebrows, and eyelashes.
